My latest haul finally arrived and I am so excited to share with you all what I got. I shared a ‘Initial thoughts’ review on facebook, which was basically just a quick right off the bat how did these products do type of thing. I say this, we had some hits and some misses. Some very, far misses. This haul is featured from Ulta Beauty with two extras from Colourpop. Lets get started!

The Haul (Ulta Beauty)
This really needs no introduction. Anyone who’s anyone in beauty has or knows of this palette, and for good reason. The color selection is awesome. So many different shades to mix and match. Along with, matte and shimmer finishes. I did a really simple look for easter and let me tell you, it had to be one of the best looks I’ve done. The pigments were spot on, everything blended effortlessly. There was virtually no fallout which is a huge plus. I could build color like no ones business. Did I mention I did almost all of it while holding a baby? Because I was. This palette DEFINITELY lived up to everything everyone said about it. If you haven’t bought this yet. Do it, do it now.
I recently switched to this product after using the beauty star, Pixi Glow Tonic. Unlike Pixi this is an alpha and beta hydroxy acid combo formula. I explain all about those in last week’s article. These usually take a consistent over time use to really get a feel for how the product works. However, I’ll still tell you what I think about it so far. I switched because I have big pores right by my nose and t-zone area. Pixi didn’t do much in fixing this so I figured its worth a shot. Right off the bat the smell is, lets say, overwhelming. Don’t breath right after wiping this stuff in the area between your upper lip and nose. You may just pass out. Although, afterward my skin does feel fresh and clean! As well as I’m pretty certain I’ve noticed a slight reduction in how visible my pores are so were on to a great start! I hope this continues on its path. Although for now its at least leaving me with a good feeling.

I saw this foundation posted on twitter and thought it looked intriguing and i’ve been in the market for a new summer foundation so why not. I used a Beauty Blender to apply this product as the sponge applicator tip at the top is a no-go for sure. Right out the bottle the consistency was thin so I was a little worried as I prefer a medium buildable coverage or full. However, it did surprise me. The coverage was pleasantly decent. I did about two layers and I would say that did the trick. It seemed to sit on the skin, well, at first. Sadly this is where we take a turn. It began to settle into some lines mostly my laugh lines. Which was extra irritating because without makeup I really don’t have any laugh lines. So unfortunately this started out great and turned out so-so. Throughout the day in person it became not the most pleasant to look at but in photos you couldn’t really tell so I guess thats a plus? Proceed with caution.
There isn’t really much to say about this lip gloss. It was smooth and soft on the lips. The color was alright. Kinda was more of a tint unless you wanted to pile it on and look goopy. The plumping effect or illusion was completely no where to be found. So if you were to ask ‘did it do its job?’ the answer would be simply, no.
I applied this right after finishing my morning/pre makeup skincare routine. I let it dry while I worked on my hair. My skin did feel hydrated and the smell was pleasant to have around while finishing the rest of my face. I did notice some of the issues I have with other foundations, even with primer, didn’t happen as much. Since I tried a new foundation as well I have to go back and have a controlled experiment between combining new products and old ones. This was also very helpful in spraying my Beauty Blender and blotting the settling makeup without disturbing it to much so theres a plus! The bottle is glass and the mist is a awesome consistency. Not to fine but not to drenching either. I’ll be saving it for a D.I.Y. project later.
This was the one besides my eyeshadow palette I was really excited for. It had a ton of good reviews and it was all over twitter. So naturally when it came I opened it right away and applied some to my hand. The texture was like velvet. I was in love! It was to late to try it on my face so I had to wait. When I could finally give it a go It felt and blended like heaven. I was pretty convinced this one had it in the bag. Well turns out it had it in the bags. As in my bags, both of them in about 2 minutes flat! It was downright AWFUL! I had to take a short nursing intermission between blending it and setting so I gave it the benefit of the doubt. Maybe I just needed to be quicker. I blended it out again and before going to the next eye I set it. So it was like blended, BAM set, done. same with the next. This prolonged the product’s hideous need to crease by about……..3 minutes. So, conclusion? You get about 5 minutes of awesome velvety bliss, before it turns to shit and adds about 10 years to your face. I ended up blotting and re-blending so many times before I was even done getting ready, I was able to fill in with my go to concealer and kinda save the day because I took so much of it off. This is seriously a purchase at your own risk. It’s just not for me.
